Lily's 2nd Birthday and a Hospital Visit

So, I am incredibly behind on this blog, but I am going to try to catch up…..STARTING TODAY!

Back in December we had quite a scare with Lily.  To make a long story short, one Sunday we noticed she couldn't put any weight on her right leg, but had no fever.  Took her in for an x-ray on Monday, it was fine…still no fever.  By Tuesday night she was running fever (about 102), took her back to the doctor Wednesday afternoon (fever was 103).  He referred us to an pediatric orthopedic surgeon, but also said we would probably end up in the hospital.  Sure enough, the second Dr. Buckely saw her, he said we not only needed to head to the hospital, but he said she was going to need surgery immediately….my 5 days shy of being 2, one year old, needed emergency surgery on her right knee!!!!!!

We headed straight to the hospital and by 6 pm were in the OR.  Lily ended up having Group B Strep in her knee.  The doctor drained her knee and admitted us to the hospital, where we stayed for the next week.  The week we were there was full of ups and downs.  Remember, I'm about 12 weeks pregnant and also trying to juggle a 3 year old and Lily is turning 2 and it's CHRISTMAS!  Fun times!  But, God doesn't give us anything that we can't handle!

Lily recovered well from her surgery, but ended up contracting walking pneumonia that caused high fevers and restless days and nights.  Not much rest was gotten!  Before we left, Lily had to have another surgery to have a catheter put in for us to administer antibiotics at home 3 times a day for at least 2 weeks!  Pat and I became nurses overnight!   She had to relearn to walk, which was a task, but in the end she's no worse for the wear and is doing great!  Seven months later you would never know any of this happened, except for the awesome scar she sports on her right knee and middle of her chest from the catheter.

God is good, all praise to HIM!  We are so thankful that we caught this infection early on!

Will's First Sleepover

Although, Will has spent the night with friends numerous times, he's never had anyone spend the night with him!  That all changed one night in November when his friend since birth, Alex spent the night.  We ate pizza, played, and had a great time!

Getting Ready for Christmas

Thanksgiving Day was spent with only three pictures taken!  Will had to have some fun in the freshly raked pile of leaves in Pop's driveway.

The kids got new Christmas jammies, which they loved!

and we got our tree the day after Thanksgiving

You can see that in the short time it took for us to decorate the tree, Will had changed from his clothes to his new jammies.  He's still wearing those things almost daily.  I can't keep them clean.
